Obakki recently hosted their bi-annual fashion show for Vancouver’s top fashion insiders, stylists, designers, photographers, writers, models…you get the idea.  The show was held at Obakki’s retail location in Gastown, with chairs spanning the length of the space - which just this year won an award for the beautiful architectural design.  The Vancouver designed and manufactured label is making major grounds in North American retail markets, so it will be exciting to see how this homegrown talent dominates in coming seasons as the design team continues to hit target after target.

Delightful wine and scrumptious treats were provided by Salt Tasting Room, and the show kicked off with a video presentation of the Obakki Spring/Summer 2009 Presentation for New York Men’s Fashion Week from back in July.  Obakki founder and creative director Treana Peake introduced the Vancouver showing to the fashionable crowd, with an emphasis on women’s fashions with a few highlights from the menswear collection thrown in for good measure.

We saw an emphasis on light fabrics, loosely draped dresses and an abundance of pastel hues, all crafted out of impeccable and subtly dynamic fabrics.  Punches of electric blue and bright corals also made their way into the collection.

Spring can roll around any time now, thanks!

The third dress looks beautiful. Suited perfectly for my girls.
