Penn Station in midtown New York City was shut down due to a power outage this morning. Trains service was suspended for several hours, with trains queuing on the tracks leading in from New Jersey. The North Jersey Coast, Northeast Corridor, Midtown Direct lines were affected, and commuters currently face delays of around an hour. Port Authority Bus Terminal shows no recent advisories. The PATH service shows no major delays at the moment.

The outage also affected Amtrak, which delayed service between Boston, New York City and Washington D.C. on Acela Express, Northeast Regional, and Empire Service.

NJ TRANSIT rail service in and out of New York Penn Station is being restored as of 12:07 p.m., following an earlier Amtrak power problem near New York.  Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct service remains subject to residual delays.

Some trains were stranded just outside Penn Station and others are stuck between Newark and New York City. There was enough electricity, however, to power the lights and heat on the trains.
