Messing with RAW format (or the RAF flavour of it, proprietary to Fuji).
This is so far the most satisfactory result, produced directly from the RAW file (converted with DNG and processed in PS as a 16-bit PSD file, then 'downsized' to 8-bit per channel just before flattening and saving as JPG. It may not be fair comparing a near-daylight picture with one taken in night conditions, but here you can look really close and see lots of fine detail.
The monument (some 200-300m from my hotel window) is of Peter the Great. Like everytthing in Russia, it is HUGE :)

The monument splits the public in polar camps: some adore its symbolics, and some hate its angular aesthetics and raw metal surface that appears black in any lighting and from any angle... No wonder the seconde camp nominated it for this 'competition' ( I am personally glad it didn't 'win' :)
