July 4 2010 (Independence Day) Fell on a Sunday This Year So What is Closed on Monday July 5 2010 For the Holiday?

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will be observing July 5 2010 as their July 4 holiday so although Express Mail will still be available there is no regular postal service and most post office locations except for the main location in your area will be closed for the day. The main branch will only be open to handle Express Mail and some self-service kiosks in some areas of the United States.

List of Days Post Offices Are Closed in the U.S. in 2010:

January 1, 2010 – New Year’s Day
* January 18, 2010 – Martin Luther King, Jr’s Birthday
* February 15, 2010 – Presidents Day
* May 31, 2010 – Memorial Day
* July 5, 2010 – Independence Day (Fourth of July)
* September 6, 2010 – Labor Day
* October 11, 2010 – Columbus Day
* November 11, 2010 – Veterans Day
* November 25, 2010 – Thanksgiving Day
* December 25, 2010 – Christmas Day

Banks will also most likely be closed; they do have the option to open but many observe July 5 2010 as the holiday and will not be open for business today.

All Government offices are closed today as well.

Depending on your area, most major cities are running weekend transit schedules and weekend parking restrictions, but depending on if there are any Independence Day events going on in your city there may be street closures as well today.

Must be nice to get your paid day off holiday even if it really falls on a regular day off anyway. It's no wonder the US Postal Service is in trouble. I'll bet FedEx and UPS are working July 5 - better and faster, too.

L Ladd, you hit the nail on the head. There is absolutely no excuse for them not to deliver mail on July 5th. Are they so much more special than the rest of the working population?! I was expecting very important mail today, but lo and behold, they have another stupid excuse, like the Columbus Day holiday, to do another half-butt job. They are overpaid (I know because I have a dear friend that has been in the USPS for over 20 years and tells me it's a piece of cake) and constantly looking for excuses to increase the cost of postage, at the same time, looking for excuses to do even less work than they already do. Typical American laziness.

Sounds like L Ladd & Smoopy need to get jobs that have benefits and paid Holidays, and get out of the cash economy or food service industry !! If you are envious of the job someone else has, why don't you put in the effort to get that job!!!! Oh, but it's soo much easier just to sit on your duff and complain !!!!
