Proactiv Recall 2011: Proactiv recalling cleanser and lotion
Proactiv is recalling some of their renewing cleanser and repairing lotions, and here's how you can check if your product is affected.
Proactiv is having a recall at the end of 2011, but many people may not know it, as the details can be a little tricky to find.
This is a voluntary recall of some of the renewing cleansers and repairing lotions, so that means you do not have to return the product, but you may want to if you find out your are affected.
Proactiv is assuring their customers that the safety of the product is not affected, but they are recalling some of them because some of the products may not maintain their effectiveness throughout their entire shelf life.
How to check if your Proactiv product is affected:
This link from Guthy | Renker allows you to check your lot numbers.
You enter the lot number (found on the bottom of the bottles) into the box at the bottom, and hit 'search'.
It will tell you if your product is part of the recall. If it is, you have to enter your address and contact details and then a return kit will be sent to you. You will then receive new product once Proactiv receives the returned product.
Other Proactiv products are not affected by this recall.

I have been complaining the last couple of months about the breakouts I have been dealing with lately. I had been wondering if I should continue to pay for and use Pro-Activ if it isn’t working any longer. Then I received the voluntary recall notice in the mail. I have bought product ahead of both the Repairing Treatment and Daily Cleansing Wash so that I have it in my shower and at my sink. So I have two almost full bottles of both that are on the recall list. Now I have to wait another 3-4 weeks to receive new products and it is a bunch of bologna. They will send me a “return box and label.” Then they will send me new product once the old is received. Are you kidding me, I’ve already paid an arm and leg for the products I have and they’re defective. I wonder what the real truth is? Did they leave out the “activ” ingredients? I currently have four large blemishes and fifth coming under my nose just in time for Christmas and at over $20 dollars a month. Give me a break! Send out new products to everyone who purchased your “defective” products in the last three months, at the very least to the ones that respond to your recall, Pro-Activ! Don't make us wait, you know we already purchased the products and entered the numbers from the bottle to prove it. Then if we don't return the bottles, charge our accounts. Unless you don't have any product available that isn't "defective." Could that be the problem?

I completely agree, I have had the same issue. The product was no longer working. I even refused the last shipment while I contimplated canceling my account. It is rediculous, Now I will continue to use a product that is not working for the next 2-3 wks, I will the have to send in every bottle I have with nothing to use for the time it takes them to replace the affected product which could very well take up to a month. I am very annoyed as well.

I just received the recall notice as well and my cleanser is affected. the 2-3 week wait period to receive product is ridiculous! and then it takes an additional week to ship. I notice that I was getting breaks outs and my skin was not as clear as it has been since i started using Proactiv. The price you pay for the product you would hope the company sends you a replacement without receiving the defective product. I will be looking for a new product to use in the next four weeks before I get my replacement. As for Proactiv if I find something I like better in the next four weeks, they just lost one customer.

I can not believe they did it the way they are either! This may be a huge mistake on their part.....I think alot of people are going to be upset about breaking out due to defective products for 3 months plus ship time!! I just found an all natural cleanser and am now a distributer for the company because it's all natural, it cleared me up and it's cheaper....you can look at the ingredients and about it at www.tonedin45.com :) As far as ProActiv you have lost a customer due to a holiday full of breakouts:( I have been using ProActiv off & on for 10 years!!

My repairing lotion is part of it. I spoke with customer service after I spoke to the recall people, and they agreed to send me the lotion right away, without having to wait. Mine will arrive in 5 days. I still need to send in the defective one though. With my luck ill end up getting 2 =]

Donna, this isn't the recall website, there is a phone number on the PA bottle replacement site that lets you check your status. This is just a blog site for consumers to discuss their experiences. Here is the link www.pabottlereplacement.com/.

Last 3 shipments I've received are in the recall! I've cancelled my orders because it wasn't working! Spent around $800.00 so far at Dermatology to clear face because product didn't work, but had faith in the product! Have spent $203.52 for expired ingredients! I don't want the new product I want my money back! If Proactiv will do the right thing & return my money for the recall products that will restore my trust in them & in a year from now when my face is clear I will consider returning! I have been a customer for many years & my brother was even considering getting the product until this happened!

I also had some products that were affected by this recall. I returned them and have been waiting over a month for the replacement bottles. I am still waiting. I called many times inquiring about my replacement bottles and no one can tell me if they have been shipped or not. They said it took 2-3 weeks to receive and process, which I guess means the time it takes for them to recieve the product, process it and replace the product; it does not including shipping time. I am frustrated at how proactiv is handling this recall. I am almost running out of the proactiv products I'm using now. I will be trying other products while I am waiting for my replacement bottles. I expressed my frustration at proactiv and cancelled my membership. Their customer service rep didn't even try to convince me to stay. My guess is she didn't care or maybe there were many customers that cancelled as a result of this recall.

I returned two of the the recall product and then I discovered the products I had given my grandson were also on the recall numbers. I asked for a second envelpoe to return them and have not received it. I have not received the replacement proactive either. My grandsons face is breaking out and it's back to where it was before. I love Proactive but it seems to me you all are rather slow in replacing it. What's going on?

I have returned several bottles of the repairing lotion and cleanser. Customer service for this comany is aweful!!!!!! I wanted my money back after I was told I'd have to wait 2-3weeks for replacement. All my product for the last 6 months was recalled! That is alot of money spent and my skin looked horrid!!! Have been customer for years but no more!! We should all contact the Attorney General in our state to report them as well!!

I am amazed by how patient the consumers are!! Maybe we ought to file a class action!! They make tons of $$ and yet refuse to take corrective action.
