Ralph Lauren Photoshop Disaster: Model Valentina Zelyaeva: photos
After the first Ralph Lauren photoshop disaster with model Filippa Hamilton, one would think that the company would learn that people pay attention to how their models are perceived. However now another ad from Sydney Australia with model Valentina Zelyaeva has surfaced and the accusation is the same.
In some places the ad can be seen without being photoshopped, but in other places, Valentina's waist is so skinny that it looks unnatural and sickly. Her head is also smaller, her neck is longer and her hands are wider. The wrinkles in her sweater are also airbrushed out in the skinnier version but it almost looks like her ribs sticking out instead.
Many described the image as ugly and skeleton-like.
This comes only one week after the Filippa Hamilton controversy, who is friends with Valentina Zelyaeva.
Ms Hamilton is said to be friendly with Ms Zelyaeva. The pair have appeared in Ralph Lauren ads together.
Russian-born Ms Zelayaeva, 27, first began modelling for Ralph Lauren in 2005, according to a New York Magazine profile.
Ralph Lauren have issued a statement on the matter:
For over 42 years, we have built a brand based on quality and integrity.
‘After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body.
‘We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the calibre of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.’
