If you were born in Soweto, you'll know some of the oldest townships and most popular then - and Pimville like Orlando East is one such place. Pimville is one place with rich history and few people know its greatness. In the early 1970's to late 1980's a soccer team called "Pimville United Brothers" was formed. it was a rival of Orlando Pirates, Swallows - "the Birds" and Meadowlands Giant Aces. It is also a place for a famous Robbies B&B.   Another place with potential for visiting, be it taking friends out to dinner or lunch, firstly I think the music is cool. Robby is a people's person. The first time we met - it was as if i knew him for a long time. He is always smiling and a pleasant person to be with. As for his place it is rated by the tourism industry board as the best upcoming places in Soweto. What i like about Robbie's Place is the vicinity. It is near a golf course very tranquil area enough parking space and security. Like all other Soweto township B&B's it is always around the neighbourhood.   One thing I still believe tourists should know about Africans, is that they "Africans"are very humane people and hospitable. When you first visit Robbies' Place you get that home-coming feeling as if you have been there before, some strange but good experience. The food is versatile depending on the day you visit the place as the menu changes every week. Just in case you want to have a "African cuisine" specialty then you'll definitely experience the tone of African cooking. Each room is fitted with TV and decoder, enough ventilation and fresh air to distress and chill-out. Robbie has a Special Event once every once in a month - the other day E-TV was hosting and sponsoring a street bash and the DJ was Thapelo Khomo quiet a few celebs were around. I persoanlly think when you get there you'll accidentally meet some of our influential politicians and TV stars. The evening was complimented by a braai and for me it was a place to meet new friends and network with business partners.
The bar is open in the evening from 17:30 p.m. for those who want to have a kick in the nerve. All sorts of brands are found hot to cold and mild stuff. The bottom line is that every B&B in Soweto is unique and has a special atmosphere of its own, so is Robbie's Place get there and experience it yourself, after all the taste of pudding is in the eating. Peace

Most people just think of scenes from Tsotsi when they think of Soweto, not realizing that, like all cities, it has many different neighborhoods, including one called "Beverly Hills", if memory serves.

There is actually a lot to write about Soweto. Although some people especially the African elders have this mentality that "somethings - should rather be left unsaid". Maybe this is why our history and stories are lacking of inspiration to forge ahead. Hollyhood is what it is today because they tell stories, good or bad it really does not matter. Human life is inspired by other people's challenges and adversities. We need to tell as much as we can for the new generation to learn from our past.
