Sukhumvit Road is the heart of the Bangkok tourist scene and if you want to be here in the middle of the action one of your best potential choices for a hotel is the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. It's conveniently located the only mass transit systems in the city and the best way to get around Bangkok. The hotel also has many facilities including a spa, a fitness club, an Italian restaurant, a Thai restaurant, an international restaurant, a top jazz club featuring international talent and an upscale, stylish nightclub.

There are 420 guest rooms here including 42 Grande Suites, 3 Specialty Suites, and 3 Thai-theme Suites.  The standard guest rooms are 45 square meters in size making them some of the most spacious in the city. They are very nicely designed with contemporary Thai décor featuring rich woods, marble and elegant Thai silks. All rooms have walk-in closets and four-fixture bathrooms.  Also, special accommodations are available for disabled guests.  And most of the floors are non-smoking.

There is a long list of in-room amenities here including the Starwood Luxury Collection Bed, internet access of up to 20 mbps including both wireless and plug-in, IDD telephone with two lines and voice mail, international satellite TV broadcasts and movie channels including CNN, BBC, CNBC, BLOOMBERG, ABC, DW, AXN, NHK, TV5, Sahara, ESPN, Super Sport, Star Sports, Star Movies, CCTV4, National Geographic, Discovery, HBO, Fox, MGM, Star World, Abu Dhabi TV and UBC Series, individually controlled reading lights, an LCD TV and micro stereo system with a DVD player, a compact disc player, a tape player, radio, alarm clock and private safe.

One outstanding feature of this hotel is the Grande Spa which offers a full range of spa treatments for both men and women including holistic aromatherapy, hydrotherapy and also Swedish and traditional Thai massages.  Free consultation is provided by an experienced spa manager and trained therapists.  A Japanese therapist is also available. There is also a very well-equipped fitness club here that offers individualized exercise programs with professional supervision.  They have some of the most advanced range of Cybex weight training and Life Fitness cardiovascular equipment along with free weights and a sauna and steamroom for relaxing after your workout. There’s also an outdoor free-form swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, surrounded by a lush tropical garden, for even more relaxing.

The Sheraton Grande has also made a major commitment to providing guests with great places to dine starting with Rossini’s an award-winning Italian restaurant serving  a wide variety of traditional and updated Italian specialties. Another award-winning restaurant here is Basil which serves authentic Thai cuisine. The Orchid Café is the hotel’s all day dining outlet and serves high-end breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets as well as an a la carte. And for al fresco dining there’s The Sala, an outdoor eatery decorated in traditional Thai style and complemented by the abovementioned swimming pool.

For entertainment there’s the hotel’s nightclub BarSu which presents recorded music every night primarily from the 70s and 80s. You won’t find any hip-hop or rap here. It’s got an elegant décor and contemporary design has and also some very good food. And there is also The Living Room, a beautiful, top-end jazz venue serving afternoon tea and late night cocktails and snacks (as well as a great burger) World class jazz musicians like Randy Cannon and the late Eldee Young perform here regularly.

And for a special treat you might want to check out the Sunday Jazzy Brunch when the hotel’s restaurants are combined to provide the longest brunch buffet in town with fine wines and great jazz.

There are a number of features that will appeal to business people here also including meeting rooms and other facilities and services. But if you just want a great place to stay that also puts you in the center of everything Bangkok has to offer it would be hard to beat the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit.
