Single Awareness Day - the Anti-Valentine's Day

Are you tired of the loved-up couples around you kissing and giving each other gifts on this February 14th - Valentine's Day? Well you can rejoice in the fact that today or tomorrow, February 15th, you can celebrate Single Awareness Day - the Anti-Valentine's Day.

You won't be able to get any Single Awareness Day cards in the stores, but it's a day you can get together with your other single friends and rejoice about a few of the benefits to being single:

Do you want that 90-inch HDTV with stereo sound system? Who’s going to say no?

Want to wear the same shirt for days and eat cookies for breakfast? Go ahead. Who’s going to stop you?

Other advantages: snoring till you rattle the windows; controlling the TV remote; watching six football games on a Sunday and wearing Batman pajamas even if you are 25 years old.

However, if you need more to get through this Valentine's Day - there is now a new craze sweeping some parts of Britain; instead of 'speed dating', there is now 'speed hating'.

Instead of having three minutes to get to know someone, you now have three minutes to be miserable and grumble about anything you can.

There’s no talk about favourite films, great nights out and go-getting careers. Speed haters use their allotted time with each other to whinge to their hearts’ content in the hope of finding someone receptive to their spleen.

And if that doesn't work....

Blind hate is another part of the evening where contestants are asked cheerful questions, such as which celebrity they’d most like to thump in the face with a brick. Or which tropical disease they’re most like and why.

People's creativity never ceases to amaze me - who would of thought up speed hating? I guess Archie Bunker or Al Bundy would have like to have a go at some speed hating. Very imaginative. I guess people who meet the same person at a speed dating and speed hating session have a good chance of getting along. Thanks for the interesting post.
