My granddaughter, age 10, and grandson, age 7, had this peanut butter for breakfast today, March 6, and both complained later in the day that their stomachs did not feel good. Two other grandchildren did not eat the peanut butter at the same breakfast and did not complain of feeling sick.

I, too, have 2 jars of Skippy Reduce Fat, Super Chunky, and Creamy with the UPC Code48001 00678 2,  but with use by October 5, 2011.  Are the May dates the only ones affected?  Please reply.  I'll probably discard my 2 jars.

According to the message, you only have to discard it IF the beyond use date is in the days of may listed above. Also, the product was not distributed to all states.

I have 3 jars of the reduced fat Skippy and had eaten the peanut butter several times at the beggining of last week.  I have felt sick ever since but did not know why until I saw the recall yesterday.  I read that salmonella lasts 4-7 days, and I hope that's true because I would like to feel better soon.

I was unaware of the recall until I mentioned at work today that I got very ill Friday after eating  a peanut butter sandwich on Friday. A fellow employed told me they recalled Skippy upon checking my jar, I found the UPC code is exact, but the "best if sold by" date is Jan 2012, not May. I do not believe my reaction after eating the peanut butter is coincidental.  I believe these jars may be infected too, even though the recording on the 800 # does not indicate this particular batch is infected, and does not show any jars were in Maryland. I do truly believe this peanut butter caused my severe stomach reaction and "swimming" head on Friday. I think they need to do further investigation on how many infected jars were released. I am notifying my local health department.

I live in Baltimore (Maryland, not one of the states listed) and I have one of each of the products being recalled...This'll teach me and my wife to eat healthy!
