It's really a marriage made in reality TV heaven; American Idol alum Clay Aiken will be a guest judge on the April 8, 2009 episode of America's Next Top Model.  Aiken will mentor the remaining ANTM contestants on their acting skills in the challenge segment of the show and then sit as the guest judge on panel.

A show rep confirms the 30-year-old singer will be featured on the show’s April 8 episode, working with the aspiring models in an acting challenge. (Clay played the role of Sir Robin for the Broadway musical Spamalot.)

Clay Aiken debuted on Broadway in January 2008; he starred as Sir Robin in the Broadway production of Monty Python's Spamalot.  Aiken's performance garnered rave reviews and established the American Idol Season 2 runner-up as a Broadway star.

Clay Aiken is the latest Idol alum giving his regards to Broadway.

The singer—and presumed shrubbery aficionado—will join the cast of Monty Python's Spamalot on Jan 18, playing the role of Sir Robin in the Tony Award-winning musical, directed by Mike Nichols.

"I really couldn't have asked for a more wonderful group of people to work with," Aiken said in a statement.

"Let's not lie, the chance to work with legendary creative minds like Mike Nichols and Eric Idle is, on its own, a reason to jump at this opportunity."

Clay Aiken finished his second Broadway run in Monty Python's Spamalot on January 4, 2009.  His highly regarded performances in the role on Sir Robin broadened his fan base and earned him a following among Broadway critics.  Broadway Magazine writer Stephen Crane even posted an online Valentine to Aiken in honor of hi Spamalot role.

Now, as promised, Stephen Crane’s Broadway Valentine to Clay Aiken and Spamalot:

Fast rode the knight
With spurs, hot and reeking,
Ever waving an eager sword,
“To save my lady!”
Fast rode the knight,
And leaped from saddle to war.
Men of steel flickered and gleamed
Like riot of silver lights,
And the gold of the knight’s good banner
Still waved on a castle wall.

I thought he was really good in Spamalot.  He'd be a great acting mentor.

He was pretty good in Spamalot. But not as good as the rest of the cast!

Clay was undoubtedly amazing in Spamalot, but not exactly the best actor. If his appearance on ANTM is to coach the girls on stage presence and voice though, then he's their man!

Clay Aiken is the glowing mass in the middle... (sneaking an illegal camera shot)
