State of the Union Drinking Game: The Audacity of Hops
Ahead of this evening's State of the Union Address, we at NowPublic Global HQ heard about a State of the Union drinking game. Yeah, you just read that. Surely this is something that lefties and righties can agree upon: forcing your friends to take shots when someone famous utters a well-known catch-phrase is part of what makes America great.
If Obama says, "Let me be clear: rhetoric aside, we must embrace bipartisanship and enact a budget freeze to keep the state of our union strong", you will miss work tomorrow.
So here are the basic rules... You have to take a drink if Obama says:
- "let me be clear"
- "make no mistake"
- "change"
- "hope"
- "budget freeze"
- "civility"
- "rhetoric"
- "Wall Street"
- "Main Street"
- "corporate greed"
- "bipartisanship"
Here are the full rules for the State of the Union drinking game. Good luck keeping up. You're going to need it.
We'd like to add our own: every time the #tcot people on Twitter use the term "socialist" or "socialism" during the State of the Union without actually knowing what socialism means (i.e. 99% of the time) , you have to drink.
Oh, and Asylum has its own SOTU drinking game. it's a bit more complex, so you may want to print out the rules.
Do not play this game if you're underage, suffering from liver disorders, or have to go anywhere near a motor vehicle within 12 hours after the speech, because it's gonna be a brutal 60 minutes.
The State of the Union drinking game actually originated with George W. Bush, and has been adapted to fit Barack Obama's speaking style (i.e. complete sentences without malapropisms)
