Despite this day being a holiday, many stores will be open today, including Sears, which is opening for the first time on Thanksgiving.

As with all stores however, if you plan to head out for some shopping, check with your local location first just to make sure they are open. 

Sears is expected to be open from 7am to noon at most locations. 

Kmart will be open from 6am to 9pm. 

Walmart stores will be open starting at midnight on Thanksgiving night, with Walmart Supercenter locations open 24 hours. 

Toys 'R' Us will open at 10pm on Thanksgiving night so shoppers can start their Black Friday shopping early. 

Stores such as the Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic will be opening around 8am as they had so much success with Thanksgiving day shopping the past few years.
