NP Rank:
The Sun Holiday Scam.
I thought you might be interested to hear from someone who feels like he has been conned by the daily paper, The Sun, because the Sun holiday I have been allocated is more expensive than if I had booked it myself on the caravan sites website.
I had recieved my booking form for my successful holiday application which will be at Bideford Bay holiday site in Devon and it will cost £160 for 6 people in total including service charge and entertainment. On ringing the booking help line I was told that it will probably be a 2 bedroom caravan, fine.Ok!
I then proceeded to check the caravan sites website and found that for the same dates, 1st - 5th June, I could get a 3 bed caravan for 8 people with all the extras included for £159. That is £1 less than the offer and is for 8 people not 6.
I do not have any option but to go with the holiday booked because I will not get back any of the money I have already paid out if I cancel, and I have been told I cannot transfer the money I have already paid out, ie: £90, if I wanted to book the other holiday and take another 2 members of my family for less than it is costing me for 6.
They make out that their offer is so fantastic and hard to say no to and that you would be a fool not to book it. In todays cash strapped society I hate to be conned out of money that I can ill afford. My wife and I have not had a holiday for 6 years now, because of health and other reasons, and we thought it would be nice to have a break with some family members at a price we could afford, which is what we are doing, but could have had a better holiday if we could have taken more of the family for a similar price. They should have stated that 'you may find this offer cheaper elsewhere' which they did not, to give people the option of at least checking.
My advice to others is check before you confirm, and you will not get conned.
Regards
Gazzapat

The Sun Editor is a lovely lady called Rebekah Wade, ring her and I bet she will reinburse your losses. Let me know how you get on. Either way have a great holiday.

I did send an email to the Suns team and did not even get an acknowledgement of my email. To be fair I did not really expect an answer anyway.
