Doritos Locos Tacos: Taco Bell's New Dish Coming Soon

Stoners, rejoice! Doritos Locos Tacos are coming soon from Taco Bell, that purveyor of fast food that's almost Mexican.

As you instantly guessed, Doritos Locos Tacos are tacos in shells made from Doritos. As of March 8, 2012, The Dorito Loco Taco will be a permanent menu item, costing $1.29 for a regular taco and $1.69 for a taco supreme.

85 million Doritos taco shells are awaiting deployment.Right now, they're only the nacho cheese flavor, but apparently Taco Bell has already tested Cool Ranch taco shells as well.

Taco Bell is also market-testing a new "upscale" (and pricier) menu called Cantina Bell, which offers identifiable ingredients. Remember, Taco Bell was recently sued for falsely claiming that their seasoned beef was real beef (Taco Bell says that it's 88% ground beef and 12% Signature Recipe...). The lawsuit was dropped, but the writing was on the wall: Taco Bell has to convince the public that its food is real food.

Come to think of it, maybe a taco with a Doritos shell isn't the best way to accomplish that.

Taco Bell boasts, "Yes, this is for real." We were afraid of that.

No word yet on the Naco, the nacho/taco hybrid from Kim Possible.
