Thousands attended the Tall Ships Nova Scotia 2009 Parade of Sail today, July 20, in Halifax. Spectators came to Nova Scotia from far and wide, armed with cameras to photograph the parade of tall ships.

The tall ships sailed to the Tall Ships Nova Scotia 2009 Festival after docking in Boston for 5 days for the Tall Ships Boston 2009. Both of the stops in Halifax and Boston form part of the route for the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009. Nova Scotia is the last North American stop and the only Canadian one before the tall ships head off to Belfast, which is their final destination.

1,000,000 people are expected to attend the Tall Ships Nova Scotia Festival during its 17-day run from July 16 to August 1, 2009.

I do like Tall Ships. I may have to wait until they come back to Tokyo.

The name "Caledonia" is the Latin name for Scotland.
The beautiful ship, Caledonia was built in 1947 as a research vessel, but nowdays it is used as a passenger vessel.During the summer months,Caledonia sails from Nova Scotia to Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The picture was taken July-20-2009 during Tall Ship Parade.

this shot was taken sunday morning during the tall ships festival. this was one of the few locations i could find not crowded with people to be able to setup and get the shot i wanted. i was amazed at the detail of all the boats.

I took this shot from the Dartmouth side overlooking the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal looking towards Woodside. The Canadian flag is at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal.
