If you are from Minnesota, then you have either worked for Target, or know someone that does. I worked overnights there for four years, believe it or not. Target is perhaps the most well-know company based in the Twin Cities which is saying something in a metro area that boasts nineteen Fortune 500 companies. Currently, Target is the fifth largest retailer in the United States.
Target used to be Dayton Hudson, a company started in 1902. Dayton's department stores have since been taken over by Macy's and Target has become it's own entity. This is why you will still hear Minnesotan's refer to Macy's as "Dayton's." The downtown Minneapolis Dayton's (Macy's) building is a landmark.
