Prince William and the Order of the Thistle: Photos

Queen Elizabeth II dubbed grandson Prince William a knight of the Order of the Thistle, which is Scotland's highest honor.

As such, there was a bit of pomp and circumstance, and, with the Royal Family, that means ostentatious hats. You can see photos below.

You tried not to think "Renaissance Faire", but you couldn't help it. Be honest with yourself: you don't care about the history of Britain's three highest orders. You only want to see weird hats. We get it.

Kate Middleton, however, wore only a fairly modest fascinator. Oh, and no Pippa Middleton photos this time. Sorry.

The Order of the Thistle's equivalent in England is the Most Noble Order of the Garter, of which Prince Charles is a member.

The Thistle Ceremony took place at St. Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh on July 5, 2012.
