Still on the subject of Dube, fair enough it is an old township but needs to be celebrated with style. Not only is Dube known to produce elite business people and academics, it also boasts of highly influential celebritities and entrepreneurs like Wandie's Place. What about Alex Molokoane of Alex Hair Salon?

Can you see how prominent and powerful Dube Village is? For now lets talk about Wandie's Place. Any tourist who has been to this Country and somehow visited Soweto knows Wandie's Place. I mean Wandie's Place is something Dube residence should be proud of. After all, the place has attracted more people from USA, Canada, Europe than Sandton and many walks of life. Mr. Kofi Anan, Bill Clinton, Quincy Jones, Will Smith, THE O'Jays to mention but a few have been there.     What does it tell you? Almost half of Hollywood celebs and American even Europe and France and Germany have seen it. What is the big-deal hear? The big-deal is that, It is more popular and vibey than any other place I can think of in Soweto or South of Johannesburg which magnetizes tourists like no other. Visit the place and when you enter the dinning area, on both sides of the wall - you'll find every other business card of a high profile individuals from local business giants, to celebs and political figures from around the globe.   This is the place that has put Soweto and tourism industry in South Africa on the world map. Besides a warm welcoming atmosphere and the kindness of people you meet, the food is great and the staff is always willing to go extra mile with their service excellence. I personally find Bra Wandie a true entrepreneur and an inspiration to the new generation of small enterprises in Soweto. Talking about Dube and what's the "Buzz"!
It as been buzzing even before anyone dreamt of South Africa hosting the 2010 FIFA games.     I think our youth should learn to be visionaries and the only way to do that is for them to take stock of themselves and start being proactive, starting a business like a restaurant or B&B like Wandie's place requires more than money or assistance from Umsobovu Youth Fund and funding from the Bank. It requires passion and a sound business brain. Bra Wandi has all these qualities including but not limited to peoples skills, not surprising he so successful. His smile never stopped shining even during the bad weather. Now, if you consider the Soweto Tourism routes from within Soweto and its pure attractions, it is not surprising Wandie's Place is the most prominent i.e. Dube village is the main route from Orlando West's museum of Dr. Nelson Mandela and throughout to the Hector Peterson Memorial. Ask yourself this question is it a coincidence or a planned strategy to make these routes traditional and conventional for tourists attraction and travel? I honestly do not know. It seems Tour Guides have the answer to that one.     Dube itself has its unique aesthetics and business ingenuity. It is only fitting to also mention business giants like Mr. Richard Maponya, South Africa's proud and genuine self-made millionaire. A true son of Africa and very humble Dube resident.  How is that for a change? What about Dr. Nthato Motlana? Also a Dube resident- and you say Dube is an old township? get out of town Dube is more than just an old township. It is a home of South Africa and Soweto's business and enterpreneurs power-house of art, politics, theater  and sports. I can go on and brag about it as if other townships don't matter. A cherry on top is JOZY FM Radio station situated in Dube near Shoprite Checkers.     Why is Soweto the most important part of South Africa and relevant to history, because it underpins the most vital part of our struggle against Apartheid.  Preserving our history and giving praise to how it became what it is today is part of my life today. I'm pointing out what most people have forgotten completely. But hoping townships that are lagging behind should also pull themselves together, to showcase their talents and creativity in attracting tourism and business development.  All townships of Soweto are special and important in their own right, others have just been appraised more than their counter-parts consciously  because of their contribution to our society in general.     By the way this story is only a tip on the iceberg, Iam genuinely honouring  contributions of business people who have impacted positively to our personal growth as Sowetans, and have given more to their communities to elevate our consciousness.  But I need to say this in order to celebrate humanity since 1994. Bra Wandie Go for it bra you have made us black people and Soweto Proud! I will always visit your place even if I don't have enough money to entertain friends to any lunch.

hohoho!

Comeahhhn, bra... why do you want to a restaurant when you don't have money. Haven't you heard of the figure of speech: there are no free lunches? There are no free lunches at Wandies - literally.
