Waterford Wedgwood: Please Buy Me!

It's a bit of a shock to me when I heard today (2009-01-05) that venerable Irish crystal maker and china maker Waterford Wedgwood has gone into receivership / administration. The firm is said to be suffering from a sharp drop in sales resulting from the 2008 Global Economic Crisis.

This photo was taken on Boxing Day (2008-12-26) at Toronto's William Ashley fine china shop. Strangely I'd taken purposely a photo showing the Waterford 40% Off signs without any prior knowledge that Waterford Wedgwood was in financial difficulties.

Waterford Wedgwood makes Waterford crystalware and Wedgwood and Royal Doulton china ware.
