Today is Wear Read Day 2010, an event started by the American Heart Association to raise awareness of heart disease, which is the #1 killer of women in America. I wish I had known about Wear Red Day earlier, so I could have taken part in Go Red for Women by wearing the one article of red clothing that I own.
Go Red for Women was launched in 2004, and American cities have responded by lighting some of their landmarks in red, such as Pike's Place Market in Seattle, Niagara Falls, and the Empire State Building (which enjoys color changes throughout the year).
You can also find Wear Red Day on Facebook and on Flickr.
