Westminster Dog Show 2012: Malachy, 'Best in Show' Winner
Photos of a Pekingese named Malachy, who won 'Best in Show' at the 2012 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
When I saw the winner for Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show, my first thought was "hairball". But then I realized that was someone's precious dog they obviously care a lot about it, so I shouldn't make fun of it. At least not too much.
Except I might make mention of the fact Malachy fit inside his own trophy.
The 4-year-old champion at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show seemed to realize his coronation as the crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York City shouted out his name.
I've never cheered very hard for a dog, except maybe Air Bud or Bolt, but the Westminster Dog Show is some very serious shit. So we need to give it the respect it deserves wants.
It's worth noting that Malachy doesn't really win much, he just gets a silver bowl he can sit in. There is no prize money. That makes the Westminster Dog Show simply founded on passion and lots of fur.
Malachy's title puts him into the history books, and perhaps his name will forever be uttered in show dog circles with "pawe" and "wooference". And wealth will come in time for Malachy's owners, with all the breeding opportunities afforded the winner.
