Where the Wild Things Are Costumes: Max Wolf Suits for Halloween
Once I passed the age of 30, something in me yearned for a simpler time, and the simpler worldview that comes with childhood. This yearning took the form of wanting to dress up as Max from Where the Wild Things Are. Of course, I never got organized enough to make my own Max wolf-suit (since I always make my own costumes, since age 7 or so). This year was going to be the year... until I found out that Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are movie was coming out. See, now I can't dress up as wolf-suited Max, since Jarrett and Blaine will tell me that it's played out and too mainstream. You see my dilemma?
Of course, don't let my pretensions stop you. Go nuts. Go wild (as it were). Dress up in a kick-ass wolf-suit and rock Halloween hard.
You can buy Max wolf-suits from companies such as Opening Ceremony, whose offerings are a bit too pricey for Halloween-only use (though you could wear the wolf-suit year-round if you were so inclined), or make your own. I won't add any direct store links, primarily because of my dyed-in-the-wool DIY ethic.

You know, a friend of mine is taking on the task of making a max suit, and i gotta say, most of the homemade ones I see are terrible, hell the super fancy one kinda sucks, the ears look silly, it's too white, I wanna make sure hers tromps all the crappy ones out there, I've seen NO good wolf-suits, really people, 4 yards of fabric can be like 30 dollars, spend a little on zippers or stuffing, say 80 dollars max and you have a great Wolf-suit, but if you wanna buy jogging pants and turn em inside out, be my guest, just know, you look terrible and ridiculous.
