Wine'tastic Mile Renamed "National Wine Week Mile" for 3/11-15
March 10, 2013- The Wine'tastic Mile of Baltimore will be renamed the National Wine Week Mile for the coming week of March 11-15, 2013.
This is the 52nd Annual National Wine Week created by the steakhouse chain Smith & Wollensky. The company is headquartered in the financial district of Boston, MA.
Smith & Wollensky dose not have a chain in Baltimore. The National Wine Week celebration is about the growing fine wine culture of the city, and the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens defeated the New England Patriots 28-13 in the AFC Championship this past January. The win advanced the team to Super Bowl XLVll.
The win over the Patriots makes National Wine Week a little more special to Baltimore since the week long event was created by a Boston based company and the continued rivalry of both teams.
The City of Baltimore is celebrating National Wine Week for the first time.
The number 52 is special to the city because its the number worn by football legend Ray Lewis. The future Hall-of-Fame linebacker played in his last NFL game on February 3, 2013 when the Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 to win Super Bowl XLVll.
Lewis played his entire 17-year pro football career with the Ravens winning two Super Bowls, and becoming one of the best players in NFL history.
Ravens fans and residents of the city can come out to their favorite restaurants during National Wine Week and make "A Championship Toast" to Ray and the Ravens Super Bowl victory.
