NP Rank:
The Worlds Most Expensive Bread at $22 Per Loaf
Britain's most expensive bread is now on sale in Harrods.
Described by it’s creator as "the Rolls-Royce of loafs", Britain’s most expensive bread has today gone on sale in exclusive department store Harrods.
Priced at a princely £15, it defies credit crunch logic at more than ten times the price of a regular supermarket loaf. However, despite it’s exorbitant price tag it’s expected to be incredibly popular with those looking for something a little more luxurious this Christmas.
According to Chris Beaney, President of the National Association of Master Bakers, lavish loafs of this caliber are becoming all the more popular with those who can afford to splash out.
The Roquefort and Almond sourdough is made from the best quality flour available. Sourced from a specialist miller in Wiltshire it contains no artificial flavours, additives or emulsifiers and is described as ‘grade A’. What's more, the bread is flavoured with the finest Roquefort cheese imported at £15 a kilo from rural France
The loaf was created by Master baker and celebrity chef Paul Hollywood who professed :
"I know it's the credit crunch and bread is obviously a staple known for being cheap but it's a fantastic loaf – the best I've ever made.
