The monthly Critical Mass bike ride in New York City, February 24th, 2006. The group bicycle ride happens the last friday of every month to raise awareness for bicycles as an alternative to automobile transportation. Since the 2004 Republican National Convention took place in New York, the NYPD has embarked on a policy of chasing and arresting riders during Critical Mass. The cases are being fought in court, with most rulings coming in favor of the cyclists.
