"We will ask the National Agency for Indonesian Migrant Workers Placement and Protection on Monday (Sept 10) to temporarily stop the sending of migrant workers from Sukabumi to Saudi Arabia," Sukabumi Manpower and Transmigration Office head Acep Barnasyah said here Thursday."We are very concerned about those migrant workers who have been treated badly by their masters (in Saudi Arabia)," he said.
The Sukabumi Manpower and Transmigration Office had so far received reports on at least 18 ill treatment cases involving migrant workers from Sukabumi in Saudi Arabia, he said. The forms of ill treatment received by the workers included the prohibition to maintain contact with relatives back home, rape attempts, the withholding of salaries, Acep said.
