Andrew Sullivan is an academic. When I read him I feel like I'm reading The Economist. His point of view is always entirely idealogical. So his recent rant is no surprise. He parrots Charles Krauthammer - an unrepentant warmonger - in his condemnation of British capitulation in the face of an assertive Iran. He even wants answers damn it! Who allowed such a mistake to happen?!

Tehran and London say no deal was done. Charles says there was. Who made it? Cheney? Bush? If so, the Bush administration just caved to Iran and traded hostages for hostages. Big news. Who will ask the president who authorized it?

He uses the recent 'hostage' crisis as an example of how the International community 'failed' us all. By 'humiliating' Britain, Iran won this one according to Krauthammer. Hey Chuck, a war with Iran would have been a major catastrophe. That's why the British chose the peaceful route this time. A war with Iran would have resulted in the destruction of a major part of the US Navy. Charles, are you a fraud? Why do you pontificate? Why do people listen to you?
