Zurich got its share of the Mayday ritual demonstrations yesterday, reports Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ).

Mayday demonstrations by the so called autonomous scene of protesters have become a ritualized encounter between the police and the so called "autonomous" scene, with roots reaching back as far as the late 1960's student movements.

The German capital, Berlin, is best known for burning cars and protests, but the Swiss city of Zurich also seemed to have its share in the action. While bystanders continued their party and BBQs, videos were taken and the mood was generally relaxed, with the police batteling a mere 50 metres away, reports NZZ.
