Chris Brown and Rihanna often denied their love affair but after an argument turned into a domestic assault on February 8, 2009 the denials became meaningless.

Shortly after midnight on the day of the 2009 Grammy Awards, witnesses say that Chris Brown and Rihanna got into a public screaming match that turned violent. Both stars canceled their performances at the Grammys amidst speculation and rumours.

On February 9, 2009 a police chase in Los Angeles sparked rumours that Chris Brown was fleeing a second arrest. These rumours proved untrue. The car chase in question was actually unrelated to the Chris Brown and Rihanna domestic assault incident. The unidentified man involved in that car chase later killed himself.

The reason for the violent fight has not been released and reps for both stars are remaining quiet, but the Internet is buzzing with rumors.

On July 20, 2009, Chris Brown finally issued his first public apology to Rihanna for the attack in a video posted to YouTube.
