Columbine: 10 Years Later

On April 20, 1999, a Tuesday, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold arrived at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado with murder in mind. Dressed in black trench coats and armed like special service forces the two teens entered the building and at 11:19 a.m. they began shooting. When they ended their rampage 13 of their victims were dead and 24 were injured. Klebold and Harris then took their own lives.

Detailed account of the Columbine killing spree from Wikipedia

Columbine was the fourth deadliest school killing in US history and the first ever mass murder in a high school by high school students. The only other act of mass killing that took the lives of children had happened in 1927 at the Bath School Bombing.

The Aftermath of Columbine left the United States, and the world, stunned. Children killing children still hits hard and heavy when it happens. Since 1996 nearly 60 school shootings have happened worldwide; although not all were mass murders or had students killing students.

April 20, 2009 will mark the 10 year anniversary of Columbine and the senseless murders of victims Cassie Bernall, Steven Curnow, Corey DePooter, Kelly Fleming, Matthew Kechter, Daniel Mauser, Daniel Rohrbough, Dave Sanders, Rachel Scott, Isaiah Shoels, John Tomlin, Lauren Townsend, and Kyle Velasquez. A candlelight vigil will be held at Columbine High School at 7:30pm in memory of those killed.
