Season 8 of the popular ABC reality series Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) is underway and fans of the show are promised this will be the most exciting round yet.

Before the show even aired there was plenty of excitement when two contestants had to drop out at the last minute due to injuries. Access Hollywood host Nancy O'Dell and singer/songwriter Jewel both pulled out of the show days before the first live episode was to air. They were quickly replaced with Hugh Hefner's ex-Girls Next Door Holly Madison and The Bachelor dumpee Melissa Rycroft.

Jewel's husband, rodeo star Ty Murray remains in the competition; he and Jewel were to be the show's first ever married competitors. On the second episode of DWTS 8, Jackass side kick Steve-O became the fifth 2009 competitor to succumb to an injury. He was taken to hospital while the show was still on the air. Previous DWTS injuries include; Steve Wozniak with an injured his foot, and Gille Marini with a dislocated shoulder.
