A disease is any abnormal medical condition that impairs regular bodily functions. It can be caused by a variety of factors, as in pathogenic agents like viruses or parasitic infections, or manifest internally due to autoimmune deficiencies.

Infectious diseases are contagious and can be passed through hand to mouth contact with infectious material, bug bites, sex, and contaminated water. Non infectious diseases often result from a genetic predisposition to the disorder.

Common diseases include cancer, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, hypertension, influenza, dementia, sexually transmitted diseases, obesity and salmonellosis, to name just a few.
