Fourth of July: US Independence Day

July 4th is Independence Day in the United States. It honors the birthdate of the USA on July 4, 1776. On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed and the US was officially freed from British rule.

The Fourth of July is a day of picnics and patriotic parades, a night of concerts and fireworks, and a reason for Americans to proudly display their flag around the world. There are special Fourth of July events across the United States.
