After 6 years of occupation US troops withdrew from Iraq as scheduled June 30, 2009. In a statement made June 30, 2009 (Iraq time) Sadiq Al-Rikabi, a senior adviser to Nuri al-Maliki, the Iraqi prime minister, confirmed "The withdrawal of American troops is completed now from all cities, after everything they sacrificed for the sake of security."
