On July 17, 2009, the Jakarta Marriott and the Jakarta Ritz-Carlton were attacked by suicide bombers, killing at least 9 people and injuring at least 50. Both hotels are popular with Westerners visiting Indonesia.
Within moments of the blasts, firsthand reports spread across the Internet via Twitter, Youtube and other social networking sites.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though Jemaah Islamiyah, which has ties to Al-Qaeda, has been named as as a suspect group.
