"Ofcom, the UK telecoms regulator, said on Wednesday it planned to cut the prices that mobile phone operators can charge for connecting calls from rival networks or landlines. These changes would come into effect when the current regulation expires in March 2007.
"China on Sunday announced detailed controls on the distribution of news by foreign news agencies, banning all content that violates its own tight media restrictions.
The new measures took effect as soon as they were issued by the official Xinhua News Agency.
"Last week signs went up on two interstate highways in remote parts of western Texas that raised the limit from 75 to 80 miles (121 to 129 kilometers) per hour.
Transportation officials claim the change was prompted by motorists who were driving that fast anyway."
