Roland Burris, picked by disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich to replace President-elect Obama in the U.S. Senate, made a brief appearance in Washington on January 6 to claim his seat. He was promptly turned away and his nomination was refused by sitting Senators.

Roland Burris and his attorney Timothy Wright have vowed to fight for the seat. They claim that Burris's appointment by Blagojevich is both the legal and Constitutional, and are prepared to take the issue to the Supreme Court if necessary.
