NP Rank:
Tall order for relocated charity fair
PLANS for one of the area's biggest county fairs are being made – with hopes that it will raise thousands of pounds for charity.
The 11th Rotary County Fair will be held at Kelmarsh Hall for the first time this year and organisers are busy making sure it will be bigger and better than ever.
Boughton House was the setting when the event was last held and included an aerobatic display, a gymkhana, fun fair, quad bikes and more.
The Kettering Huxloe Rotary Club is already making preparations for an even more spectacular programme of events and organisers want to beat 2003's record fundraising effort, when £32,000 was collected for charities in the Evening Telegraph area.
Chairman of the organising committee John Sutton said: "A wide variety of attractions and stalls and all the fun of the fair combine to make this a magnet for all ages.
"We are delighted with our new venue. Kelmarsh offers us more space and is a great show site.
"It is very easily reached from the A14 and we expect better support than ever for what will be a great family day out."
The group's first Rotary County Fair was held at a farm in Thorpe Malsor 11 years ago.
