At about 4 am sunday, April 29th part of a freeway section in Oakland collapses.The location where this happened just after the Bay Bridge east bound intersatate 580 part of the freeway fell on to the connector brings East Bay traffic from Interstate 80 to Interstate 880 southbound toward Oakland and San Jose. The Tanker that was travelling on I-80 was full of gasoline wich created the explosion and meltdown of the freeway structure. The driver of the tanker got out on his own and hailed a cab he was critical but stable condition with burns from what witneses told me. One caltrans driver told me that there was a police officer that arrived first on the scene and received minor injuries. There was no heavy traffic this sunday morning, but Monday morning should be interesting to see on the early comute to work.
