For my whole life so far, diesel fuel has always been significantly cheaper than gasoline (“Benzin”), and premium gas (“Super”) has always been at least a bit more expensive. In some other countries, diesel fuel is actually more expensive than gas, but in Germany the tax on gas is higher than on diesel, which always helped keep the prices apart.
A few days ago, the price difference between regular and premium disappeared completely at some stations, and the diesel/gas price difference was also diminishing. Last night there were actually some stations where all three types of fuel were at the same price, and some where diesel was even more expensive than gas.
By the way, all of these prices are in Euro cents per liter. € 1.299/l are currently equivalent to US$ 7.21/gallon.
