A 1913 Liberty Head Nickel that was used in a Hawaii Five-0 episode called 'the $100,000 nickel' was sold at an auction in Orlando Florida for over $3.7 million.

It is one of one five 1913 Liberty Head Nickels in the world; this one was called the Olsen specimen and is considered the most famous because of its role in Hawaii Five-0.

In a description of the coin, Heritage Auction Galleries, said the original coin was seen only in close-ups. For other scenes, the coin had a "stunt double."

The Olsen specimen has also had two other famous owners the Egyptian King Farouk and Jerry Buss, the LA Lakers owner.

Why are the 1913 Liberty Head Nickels worth so much?

They are an American five cent coin that were produced is such limited quantities as they were produced without the authority of the United States Mint. Due to their limited numbers there are now only five and three are in private collections with two in museums.
