NP Rank:
2.8million Brits under-employed
New figures reveal that not only are 2.6million British workers unemployed but that a further 2.8million are underemployed.
It's not that Britain is a nation of slackers in fact it's estimated that one-in-ten workers want more hours but just can't find the work.
When the figures for unemployed and underemployed are combined it gives a figure of one in seven British workers who are not able to find enough work.
Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Theresa May blasted the Government ahead of fresh unemployment statistics out today.
She said: "These figures show the devastating impact of Gordon Brown's recession on families across the country. Not only are there two and a half million people without a job at all, but millions more are unable to find enough work.

A little perspective on this: during the past 13 years, the UK had the greatest amount of wealth in its modern history flush through the country. If Brits chose to get drunk and waste that money - and become the most indebted people in human history - then so be it. Sometimes in life there are consequences for bad behaviour.
