Michigan native Leroy Fick, 59, hit the jackpot last June, winning $2 million in the state’s lottery TV show “Make Me Rich” contest. With his lump sum of $850,000, Fick bought an Audi convertible and a new home. He is still, however, using a Bridge Card, which is Michigan’s version of food stamps.
According to state law, lottery winnings are classified as assets and not income, so Fick is still legally able to get food stamps. If a person’s gross income is less than the state eligibility requirement, they can get food stamps—even if they have millions in the bank. Fick’s lawyer, John Wilson, said:
"He's not trying to cheat the state. Based on his income, he's eligible."
"For Leroy Fick to continue to use a Bridge Card, paid for by the taxpayers, after winning the lottery, is obscene. What a waste of taxpayer money."
"If you're going to try to make me feel bad, you're not going to do it."

I agree with Mr. Wilson's comment. Michigan voters are indeed the dumbest in the nation as they voted in the turkeys that have brought the state to its knees. Mr. Fick is only taking what has been offered. The blame here if any is with those that offered and not with the man that took it.
