$200,000 Scotish Whiskey Sets World Record
The US may be cash-strapped and the Eurozone in disarray but none of that stood in the way of an anonymous Chinese businessman who spent £125,000 on a bottle of 62-year-old Dalmore Scotch, which had sat languishing for six months in a glass case at Singapore’s Changi airport, becomes the most expensive bottle of Scotch Whiskey ever sold.
Indian-owned Dalmore distillery situated in Alness the largest town in Ross and Cromarty, in the Highlands of Scotland, was originally run by the Mackenzies, whose ancestors – so clan lore has it – rescued King Alexander III on a hunting escapade in 1263, then the Highlands distillery was bought by Whyte & Mackay in 1960.
Whyte & Mackay was subsequently bought by India’s United Distillers, run by businessman and politician Vijay Mallya, in May 2007.
As befits such a pricey tipple, the whisky boasts a cornucopia of flavours and aromas, which, according to David Robertson, Dalmore’s director of rare whisky and one of a select few to have tasted it, these include honey, Seville oranges, coffee, bitter chocolate, cardamom, cloves, ginger and almonds.
Whisky (Scottish English) or whiskey (Hiberno-English) is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash.

I once owned a 1959 Mercedes that required considerable upkeep. Otto was my local repairman. The fuel pump went out just before Christmas and Otto agreed to repair it so I could visit family for the holiday.
When I went to pick up the car, Otto was in full gear of celebration and offered to me a sip of whiskey. He poured it in a Styrofoam cup.
As I was standing talking and sipping with him, I noticed that the whiskey was eating a hole in the cup. That was some drink.
