MANILA, Philippines -- A total of 27,765 or 43.07 percent of the 64,459 who took the nursing licensure exam last June 1 and 2 passed it, the Board of Nursing of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said Thursday evening. "Congratulations to those who passed," said BoN member Dean Marco Sto. Tomas.

More than 100 examinees made it to the top 10, he said.

Aira Therese Salamanca Javier of the University of Santo Tomas topped the test with a rating of 86 percent.

The seven-member BoN, which prepared and conducted the examinations, is chaired by Carmencita Abaquin, and includes Sto. Tomas, Leonila Faire, Betty Merritt, Perla Po, Yolanda Arugay, and Amelia Rosales.

But the BoN said the test results of one examinee "was withheld pending final determination of her liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations."

Just as the exam was given in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last June, oath-taking will also be decentralized.

In Manila, BoN said the oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees in this batch as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the BoN on August 19 (Tuesday) and 20 (Wednesday), with morning (8 a.m.) and afternoon (1 p.m.) sessions at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay
City.

"All must come in their white gala uniform, nurses cap, white duty shoes, without earrings, hair not touching the collar and without corsage," BoN said.

The board also announced that admission tickets for the Manila oath-taking will be available starting August 1 in the respective colleges of nursing.

"Walk-in inductees who wish to join the Manila oath-taking ceremonies may secure admission tickets at the Philippine Nurses' Association, 1663 F.T. Benitez Street, Malate, Manila on a strictly first-come, first-serve basis," it said.

Outside Manila, the regional oath-taking schedules are as follows:
• August 22: Tuguegarao, Baguio (a.m./p.m.), Caraga region (3 p.m.)
• August 26: Davao, Cebu (9 a.m.)
• August 27: Roxas City, Capiz (10 a.m.)
• August 28: Bohol, Iloilo (10 a.m./2 p.m.)
• August 29: Bacolod, Negros Occidental (2 p.m.)
• August 30: Lucena, Pangasinan
• September 2: Zamboanga
• September 3: Legazpi (a.m.)
• September 5: Cagayan De Oro
• September 7: General Santos

Only Tacloban City has not scheduled a date for oath-taking yet.

Meanwhile, those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), two pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), one piece 1" x 1" picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), two sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession.

Registrants will also pay the P600 Initial Registration Fee and the P400 for the Annual Registration Fee for 2008-2011.

"Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals," the board said.
