35.365 Orange

In my high school Journalism class long ago, the editor suggested we take the True Colors Personality Test. Apparently some of us weren't working well together, and a teacher suggested this activity. It's a personality test that is designed to show what careers are good for certain personality types, but also what personality types work well together in the workplace. After taking the test, I found I was a resound orange. Some characteristics associated with orange are: skillful, courageous, spontaneous, hands-on, and focused on fun. Two of my best friends were on the school newspaper staff as well, and when we had tried to collaborate, we ended up fighting and yelling at each other. This is because they were gold: punctual, task-motivated, dependable, and believed work came before fun.

It explained everything. And from then on, we saved our friendships by not working on stories together, haha. :) I found it interesting that all the people closest to me, including my mom, all have gold qualities. It explained why I drove them all crazy with my sponteniaty and procrastination. Hey, at least I had fun. :)

When I was putting this diptych together, I was reminded of my orangeness back then, and wondered if I am still orange today. I took the quick quiz online, and sure enough, I'm still orange. However, I'm also rather blue: warm, compassionate. The results show that those with blue characteristics love helping people, and teaching.

Now, I tend to not buy too much into these "personality tests." Especially the online ones. But in high school, I took the test on paper, read all the background about it, and I think it's pretty legit. The results were just too helpful to ignore. After we took those tests and understood what color each other was, we modified how we worked together, and became a harmonious, respectful staff once again.

And, I know people are supposed to change as they mature, but I have to say, I was happy to know I've still got some orange in me.
