Microsoft has announced 800 more layoffs, on top of the layoffs already announced earlier this year. Among those layed off is Don Dodge, Microsoft's Director of Business Development for the Emerging Business Team. Don Dodge is publicly presenting a very positive attitude about the whole thing on his blog:

This is pretty standard procedure, mostly for legal reasons, but none the less left me with a cold feeling...but only for a minute or two.
Michael Arrington says that Microsoft was stupid to let Don Dodge go, and he's probably right. Microsoft doesn't have the best reputation in the dev community, and Don Dodge seemed to be an exception.
He was more concerned that I not write anything negative about the company than anything else. Even after they turned their back on him, he was still on their side.
Well, someone else will get him, I'm sure, as he's pretty well-respected in the biz.
The cuts disclosed today are in addition to the 5,000 global layoffs that Microsoft disclosed in January.

So, will Microsoft lay off their foreign workers here on the special visas first or do they get to stay while legal residents of the US get the hit?
