July 26, 2011- For the first-time in the competitive world of the basketball sneaker apparel business the world's top 3 basketball sneaker companies Adidas, Nike, and the Jordan Brand have used the same dunk terminology (Dunkadelic) to promote its brands.  

The 3 brands in the words of rap mogul Jay-Z are in a "Dunkadelic State of Mind."

Dunkadelic (adj) the fusion of basketball & hip-hop inspired by the cultural aesthetics of urban style fashion, and attitude. Avery powerful or thunderous dunk.

This was the original definition created by Derrick E. Vaughan of Baltimore, Maryland when the term was founded in February 1997.

Dunkadelic was the first dunk term created in 30-years since dunk-shot in 1967. There have been other popular terms for a dunk. Slam dunk, jam, and stuff led the 80's and 90's now were in a "Dunkadelic State." (Dunkadelic State is a basketball/hip-hop phrase that pays homage to the popular Jay-Z and Alicia Keys song Empire State).

The Dunkadelic term will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary of being founded in February 2012. The term is still very popular and has grown to a global level.
