Air Comet Flight Attendants Find Novel Way to Protest

A group of flight attendants from Air Comet, a Spanish airline that has been grounded, are owed about nine month's wages for the work they did before the airline went bankrupt. As time passes and they still have not been paid, they decided to find a novel way to get everyone's attention; they decided to pose nude for a calendar.

A group of female flight attendants stripped down and posed in and around airline cabins and one of them even struck a pose on top of a jet turbine engine according to Reuters. Many images from the calendar have appeared in Spanish media and their plight is garnering worldwide attention.

"We are just demanding our rights to receive what is ours, we each have eight or nine months of unpaid salaries," attendant Adriana Ricardo, who appears in the calendar, told Reuters.

Air Comet was an airline run by one of the main employers' association in Spain, the CEOE, and Gerardo Ferran filed for administration in December. This occurred after the German bank HSH Nordbank asked the British court to impound one of the aircrafts.

In such economic hard times, employees are often having to come up with more inventive and creative ways to make sure they get what is owed to them and to draw attention to the fact that just because they lost their jobs, does not mean they do not deserve to be paid for the time they did work.

That's an unusual way to protest, but they've got the media's attention.
